WIC Rules and Regulations for Writing Contest

  1. Writers Inner Circle is hereinafter referred to as WIC.
  2. When submitting written prose and poetry to the WIC Writing Contest each contestant is subject to the rules of this contest and agrees as part of that submission to adhere to the following rules of the WIC Writing Contest.
  3. WIC will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes monthly to winning contestants. Prizes may vary from contest to contest. Each winner will, however, be invited to participate in, and be included in, an anthology (WIC Magic, A Collection of Poetry, Prose and Short Stories) produced by WIC Press Ink, WIC's publishing arm.
  4. Winners will be notified via email of the results. All other contestants will receive an email outlining how they may be included in the anthology. Emails sent to [email protected] will be personally responded to by one of the staff.
  5. Entries will be judged by an independent panel and reviewed by the WIC management.
  6. All entries submitted to WIC writing contest must be the original work of the submitting contestant. The writer of the submitting document is responsible for and must attest that the work is the original work of the writer. If it is determined any submission by a contestant was plagiarized the contestant will be automatically withdrawn from the contest and all future printings of books. No refunds will be made to any person found violating any of the WIC contest rules as stated in this document.
  7. A representative (such as a family member submitting a piece on behalf of a deceased loved one) may submit the poetry or prose authored by the deceased relative but must attest that the submission was authored by the deceased relative
  8. All entry fees are non-refundable.
  9. All contestants retain full rights to their material and are free to resubmit, publish or share said articles as they wish with other contests, publishers, or include within their own books.
  10. There is no limit to the number of submissions by any given writer; however, not all submissions will be accepted for the anthology.
  11. Once notified by a representative of WIC of their right to be included in the WIC Magic Collection Series, winners are under no obligation to have their submissions included in the WIC Magic Collection Series.
  12. The following subjects will not be eligible or considered as legitimate or viable contest entries: hate material; any material that disparages or encourages harm to another person(s); pornography; and violent subject matter that promotes violence. WIC, its founder, partner, and associates reserve the right to amend this list as necessary. 
  13. Everyone invited to be published in any of the WIC Magic Collections Series will be entitled to purchase seven (7) copies of the book at cost at the time of printing.
  14. The number of pages for each WIC Magic Collection Series cannot be determined; therefore, the cost of each Volume will be determined by the number of pages at the time of publication.
  15. WIC members in good standing will have the right to purchase additional copies of WIC Magic, A Collection of Poetry, Prose and Short Stories at a reduced wholesale cost of the individual book plus 30%. (For example, if the cost of printing is $4 the total cost for WIC members would be $5.20 per book, plus California sales tax.)
  16. Non-WIC members will have the right to purchase additional copies of WIC Magic, A Collection of Poetry, Prose and Short Stories at the wholesale cost of the individual book plus 50%. (By example, if the cost of printing is $4 the total cost for non-WIC members would be $6.00 per book, plus California sales tax.
  17. WIC management reserves the right to amend these rules and regulations. It is the responsibility of the contestants to revisit them from month-to-month to become familiar with and are cognizant of all rules related to their participation in the WIC Writing Contest.
